Great start for the New Year

We have had a boring day. We got to sit around the house with no water, waiting for the plummer to come figure out what is the matter with our pipes this time. I am definitely greatful for the running water I enjoy every day of my life, and it will be a while before I take it for granted again. We were lucky and had fair warning so we were able to fill our bathtubs with water for flushing toilets and so forth, and fill up other stuff for clean water.
This all started when we realized we had a puddle in our window well that was causing a puddle in our basement. We had the plummer over yesterday and he basically said to dig a hole, and that is exactly what Gene did. The problem came during the last foot or so when the water was seeping in and up to about his knees, which meant another call to the plummer - who told us to shut off the water, let it dry out, and he would be by sometime today.
This afternoon when he still hadn't shown up Gene headed back out to redig what had filled in with water (he probably won't be able to move tommorrow, poor guy.) Then we waited and waited, finally at 6:00 he shows up spends about 15 min, and says that should hold you until spring.
So now we get to have this massive hole in our backyard for another few months.
